I figured since it is the oldest minority and culture it would be the first ones on the census already Why are they the unrecognized group (not just creoles but also cajuns) And should Cajuns and Creoles be listed on census

If You know Your History, when America purchased The Louisiana Territory from France it's People were absorbed into America's Society..Many Creoles were forbidden to speak Creole, and maintain there separate identity.. At one time Creoles belonged to a 3 tiered Society..Not Black not White but somewhere in between..We were identified as Mulattos and to a certain degree kept to Ourselves.. But after the Civil War the Yankees and the Southern Politicians tightened their grip on Our Society and began to take away Our Culture and self identity..Then along Came the " One Drop Rule " which meant , If You possessed any amount of Black Blood Then You were considered just another Black Person, with no distinct differences ..From then on Whites and Creoles stopped mixing and Creoles begin to mix more so with Black Americans.. In the process many of Us begin to lose our Uniqueness and individual character..Although We have been somewhat assimulated into American Society We still maintain Our Ancestral Heritage... On the other hand, Cajuns, for the most part have been able to isolated themselves from the rest of American Society and thus have been able to maintain their individual Culture Augustine/Comeaux
