What does it mean when You say You are Creole.. 
Being Creole does not mean You are not Black or don't have African Heritage..When Black Americans hear You say the Word Creole automatically they Assume You are in denial of Your African Heritage..Come on America ..Creole has nothing to do with Race...It's a culture ...
Even though many Creoles are Bi Racial most generally We identify as People of Mixed Heritage and Not White..There were Many Creoles who have crossed the color line and identified as White but those are the ones that were able to do so.
You've all heard of the paper bag test as well..This was not a denial on Our African Heritage but more so a way of Bringing light skinned Creoles together for self identification and nothing else..You could call it a Social connotation. Even though I am a light complected Creole ,never if ever, have I even contemplated being anything other than what I am...
A vast majority of Creoles simply want to be what they are , a People , who through Our long History, were a People that have always inter married and associated with White Europeans and people of all colors ..Our French Culture promoted it and it was very common in Louisiana Culture to do so until the Yankee invaders brought their Racist policies and the " One Drop Rule "
So when someone throws the Race Card in Your Face, for self identifying as Creole they are in fact displaying ignorance and a lack of Respect for

I, Myself am Proud of My Heritage and will never be anything other than Creole..To deny being Creole is just as Bad as passing for White or Black.We just,as a People ,don't do it.
