The Race issue and Creoles

::It seems that every single time Creole heritage is discussed someone brings up the Race Card...Whats up with this ?...I am a Creole and I've never ever associated The Color of One's skin in My discussions on Creole Matters...

A lot of Us Creoles are light skinned and all my life My Creole Friends have been all shades of Color...We tend to gravitate to wards who We are and not the color of Our skin..Although I'm a Louisiana Creole, I was not raised there...I have a Home in Louisiana and I travel there quite often ...After Katrina the New Orleans Creole are not as numerous as before but Everyone Recognizes Us right off the Bat and there never seems to be any animosity shown..

I know that in Southwest Louisiana ,where many Creoles live there is still a large diverse population of Creoles of all Colors and believe it or not quite a few are black and much darker than the Creoles in Chicago that I'm accustomed to. We Creoles Are quite diverse in Our Colors but from My experience I find most Creoles to be rather light complected, through no fault of Our Own..It's part of Our Racial Makeup and tell Me what the Hell is wrong with that...Yes there are some Creoles that play the Race card but not many..

A lot of My Creole friends identify with being African/American and that includes My sister ,but I don't want to see Us lose it.I'm Proud Of My Creole Heritage .. It seems that the Darker someone is, the more Hostilities they show to wards lighter skinned Creoles...Say !!! God put Us in this World just like You and We all have the same right and freedom of choice....It seems that there is a lot of hypocrisy out there...Is there something wrong with being light skinned and is there a problem, if We don't act more African American than the Others...

what is it with this Racial criticism.? ..Can someone tell Me why We always get singled out because We don't fit Your mold...To all the non Creoles Its always about skin Color ...When will this ever stop...In today's World the big issue is how you are going to survive and where the next dollar will come from...Can any one tell Me what really is going on .......

Well said and very well put.We have known all my life that we were black and Hispanic(My Family) But two years ago upon my grandfathers death we found out that his mother was a Louisiana born Creole who married a person from the Island of Puerto Rico and she just adapted to his culture.When we saw Louisiana on her death certificate it sure did answer lots of questions.And I have to say that the same struggle about color is fought in each and everyone of my family bloodlines.it is the same sad story no matter what language its all about Color,Color,Col'or!!!!

Augustine-there are more Creoles in the area-due to migrations out of Plaquemines Parish-where Creoles outnumber blacks and almost out number whites. Your just looking in the city and not hitting the Westbank and more gated communities or suburban areas.
Did you go to Gentilly? Lakeview? Kenner? Algiers? Harvey? Gretna?
East New Orleans-has the largest population burst of Creoles due to displacement of Katrina people BUT it is still in the area. If Plaquemine Parish-decides that it wants to give land to oil companies and hand out money for condos in New Orleans(like they have been doing), then trust me-there is enough of Creoles to out number every other racial/ethnic group other than blacks in New Orleans.

The African American population declined but Creoles didn't go any where.
Creoles are idiots to fight about something that a third party-foreign force is putting on us. Creoles don't have race issues. Blacks have very bad race issues and of course =whites think that they can just re-write our history and pass it off-how ever they like.
Most inter-conflict in a relationship and arguments are created by 2 people, who are arguing or disputing something that a third party has said or done.
Too many Creoles-mostly those with a high degree of African blood lines-appear to have that black Protestant inner city madness of debating a single, cosmetic issue for decades while the real issues are getting ignored in their community. Sorry some creoles or light skin,mixed people have this guilt and in turn, feel a need to enforce Jim Crow systems and demand everyone carry a "black militant" card so that African Americans don't get uncomfortable with your being.
America isn't a gift from God, the his-story (history) is fake, these idiots in our government are not GODS to tell people-what they need to classify themselves as and blacks for dam sure -need to get a life and stop hating on anyone that doesn't fit into their white media masas, image of how ANYONE with black ancestry, in America is supposed to act. Sorry I am Catholic and not spending hundreds of dollars on TD Jakes, sorry I never ate ox tails or "chico" candy sticks, sorry I don't have a criminal record, sorry my family owned land and I lived in a house, sorry I don't camouflage in the dark, sorry I speak French, sorry I actually research and carry own my communities history and not just waiting for BET to tell me where I came from. SORRY THAT I DON'T KISS NO ONE'S BUTT! My ancestors didn't do it in colonial America-and I dam sure ain't doing in 2009.
If you don't like Creoles-Keep it pushing.
Sorry that Creoles have the audacity of being knowledgeable. My god! When will Creoles EVER learn their place?

Evidently, afrocreolerican you find Color Color Color on black blogs and black websites. Lil Kim is upset that a dark skin actress played her in a film. Black women think that Beyonce got all of her success because she is lite skin. Blacks are Color, color color. Please don't get me started on Puerto Ricans. Please bite your tongue and do not pretend that there isn't a color divide within the Hispanic community. If you want to loose your mind-then study color issues in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republican. Look at New York before Blomberg destroyed the areas with developments. The white Ricans lived in the N. Bronx, the Indian brown skin ones lived in the S. Bronx and the more Afro-Ricans lived in Spanish Harlem.
So spare me the guilt trip of saying that Creoles are color struck or suggesting racism-when we have gone above and beyond being civilized. It is blacks, immigrants and many white that are still trying to carry on-this racial science system-which was installed by England. Also, how can you study Creole glory days-of colonial French America in the 1700 and 1800's and not expect that race, color and class wasn't an issue?
I am so sick of the double standards.
Many whites and blacks have this same trifling habit of being apologist to their own racism and one-sided thinking. When it is done to Creoles-it is somehow o.k. to make Mother Henriette Delille or Marie LeVeaux into African Americans and have black artist darken their skin and give them West African-like features-but let an editor put too much light on Beyonce and black people start up with there knee-jerk color arguments.
