A little background about me. I was born in 1957 in Los Angeles to Creole parents who for many reasons, left the Greater New Orleans area during post WWII. Economic prosperity was one reason, but I am sure that racism was also a factor.
I decided to move to the land of my roots last year. I am a mental health professional, and thought that coming to the GNO area would be a good thing to do. While I am happy about this decision, for the most part, I have been greatly troubled by the racism shown or covertly communicated to me in a parish neighboring Orleans.
I was shocked that in this day and age, anyone would utter the 'n' word "good heartedly". Perhaps I am naive, but it was a wake up call.

It will always be a horrible factor in any state but being thats the south you shouldnt be surprised although i do understand. its like how do i properly respond to something like that dont bother. i even talk to this lady that was when i was working in a hospital she was a patient she told me her husband treated her bad b/c he thought she was a nig^&& lover like wow i dont know if she was looking for a reaction or what but yeah in this day in age what does it matter only way if racism goes away if they make a medication for it literally!!!
